To supervise and administer the College’s program of safety and security on an assigned shift and to assist the Department’s Executive Director and Deputy Director in the performance of their duties. To be responsible for addressing all issues that may arise and require supervisory attention, whether directly related to safety and security or not, at such times as no other supervisory personnel are scheduled to be working at the College.

Position Summary Information

Essential Duties Summary

• Be thoroughly familiar with the operation of the Safety and Security Department, including fire safety policies and procedures, to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the department. Make decisions and issue instructions as authorized pursuant to policy.

• Supervise the security personnel assigned to their shifts, as well as members of other departments when appropriate or in an emergency situations, taking or suggesting actions as necessary.

• Respond to all incidents or occurrences and assist in the resolution of security and/or plant maintenance difficulties. All incidents must be properly entered into the Safety & Security Logbook and definitive reports describing the situation must be promptly filed. Proper notification, pursuant to procedure, must also be accomplished.
• Perform other or special assignments as directed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required Qualification Summary

• Five (5) years progressively responsible experience in security operations, including at least three (3) years at a supervisory level.

• Associate degree or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

• New York State Security Guard and Fire Guard license required or must be obtained within the first six months of employment.

• Experience as firefighter, police officer or security guard supervisor is desirable.

• Must possess valid New York State driver’s license. Exception to this requirement can only be made with written approval of Director or Associate Director of Security.

• Excellent physical condition.

Preferred Qualification Summary

Must be able to work rotating shifts(days,evenings and weekends) and Holidays, Overnight and weekend availability is a must.

Physical Demands Summary
Salary Range $28.89 per hour
