Position Information

Position Title Postdoctoral Research Associate
Job Description Summary

A postdoctoral position is currently available in the laboratory of Dr. Elizabeth Bauer at Barnard College of Columbia University to investigate the neural circuitry underlying aversive memory formation. These projects use a variety of approaches including optogenetic manipulation of behavior, immunohistochemistry, behavioral testing and in vitro electrophysiology. Our goals are to define the circuits and cellular mechanisms that trigger aversive memory formation and neural plasticity, using fear conditioning as a model of associative learning. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience or related discipline. The specific project involves optogenetic control of identified neural circuits in behaving rats. Thus, significant experience with these techniques is essential. Successful candidates will have a strong track record of publication and the ability to work successfully both independently and as part of a team. This position is funded by the NIH for two years.
